Everyone likes to get away from time to time, but some folks just don’t do it. They are busy, or they don’t want to spend the money, or they tell themselves, “Next year I will.” Help Mom live for the moment, and send her to our luxurious bed and breakfast Berkshires.

Spring is a lovely time in the Berkshires. The small towns start to come out of winter hibernation, throwing open their doors to the sunshine and warmth. Chilly nights make a great excuse to cuddle by the fire at our Lenox inn.

There are wonderful pigs at Hancock Shaker Village

Come for a farm and forest trail walk at Hancock Shaker Village, where you’ll see red trillium in bloom and meet many cute calves, chicks, piglets and lambs. Take in the Giovanni Boldini in Impressionist Paris exhibit at The Clark, before it closes on April 25, 2010; be sure to explore The Clark’s walking trails and grounds, too. Explore the Berkshires by day. Once back at our Lenox area B&B, you’ll be greeted by a pleasant, romantic atmosphere. Our Romance Package includes a room with a fireplace, a three-course dinner for two, champagne and chocolates. It’s a lovely way to celebrate the departure of winter, the arrival of spring, and your relationship.

Under normal circumstances, a little getaway to our Lee MA b&b can be pretty darn romantic. A beautiful setting, lazy mornings and delicious breakfasts help set a certain tone. Roaring fires in the winter add a nice touch, as does the brandy you’ll find in your room at bedtime.

Share a quiet evening in front of the fire

If you are looking to create an ultra-romantic mood for Valentine’s Day, we offer two Romance Packages at our inn. You’re room will have its own fireplace, ready to be lit. We’ll feed you a three-course dinner for two, by candlelight. Your room will have a soaking tub and steam shower or a whirlpool large enough for two. We’ll bring a split of champagne and chocolate to your room, and we’ll leave you alone.

It is possible to add to this with our Ultimate Romance Package, which includes fresh flowers and a framed 8×10 photo of your time together here.

Of course, there is plenty to do in and around Lee MA should you decide to leave your room. Excellent restaurants, art galleries and shops await, as do miles of cross-country and downhill ski trails.

Sometimes it’s just nice to do something extra special for the person you love.

The latter, of course, is much more economical. Spend a few days at our Lenox MA inn, where you will find warmth, comfort, and excellent food. Each day as the light wanes, you’re invited to sit by a roaring fire and enjoy wine and cheese. At bedtime, you’ll find cognac and chocolates in your room. Throughout your stay you may enjoy several comfortable seating areas throughout the inn; play the piano, play a game, read a book…. Relax.

To help you feel extra pampered, head to nearby Lee and the Soul Spa. Both of you will enjoy an almost hour long deep tissue massage, and you may each choose from these additional services: Reflexology, Aromatherapy, or Facial Rejuvenation. Staying in colder climates during the winter has its advantages. We feel entitled to certain things, like spa days. And in truth, we deserve them.

Time for a relaxing ski trip

The holidays are behind us now. Visiting family has returned home, the gifts have been put away, the house cleaned. You are back to your normal routine, except you keep writing 2009 on your checks instead of 2010. Life is good, but it feels like there is something missing.

In short, it’s time to plan a little trip to our bed and breakfast Berkshires.

What you need is an invigorating getaway skiing at Butternut Mountain and being pampered at our Lenox MA inn. We offer a Breakfast and Ski special Mondays – Thursdays throughout the ski season, which includes free lift passes at Butternut Ski Resort. You may also ski Jiminy Peak (for a small fee). There is no need to feel rushed. Sleep late, eat a hearty breakfast at your leisure, and head to the slopes when you are ready. Ski as long as you like, then return to the inn to sit by the fire and enjoy a little apres ski (the best part of skiing, in our opinion). You are here to relax and enjoy yourself, not count minutes after all.

Snow in time for the holidays

There are many different ways to celebrate New Years. For some folks, it just doesn’t feel right unless they are having a night out on the town. For others, the best way to ring in the New Year is to do it from the comfort of home, with just family. Still others like to try to something new every year, in the spirit of a openness and change.

Have you ever spent New Year’s Eve at a lovely Bed and Breakfast in the Berkshires? Consider the advantages: an elegant and peaceful setting; a variety of dining and entertainment options in the nearby New England towns of Lee, Lenox, and Stockbridge; a gourmet breakfast prepared for you on New Year’s Day, so you can sleep in and feel pampered.

We’ll gather together to toast 2009 and 2010 at 6pm on New Year’s Eve, before heading our separate ways. There are some spectacular restaurants a short drive from our Berkshires inn, and many good options for entertainment. Of course, you are also welcome to spend the evening at the inn, enjoying the warmth of the fire or the privacy of your room.

We offer both a two-night special and a three-night special for New Year’s Eve at our Berkshire’s lodging. As an extra treat, we’ll provide wine and cheese on the other nights, and you’ll find chocolates and a decanter of brandy in your room.

If you enjoy antiquing, we’ll happily share some of our favorite shops with you. The heart of Lenox has several good antique shops, as does downtown Lee; those of you willing to spend a day driving around Western Massachusetts will discover many fantastic shops.

The area around our Berkshires bed and breakfast draws artists and craftspeople, and as a result, there is an abundance of local art and crafts. From the shop in our inn to any number of stores on any Main Street, you’ll find unique jewelry, pottery, textiles and paintings. Bring a little bit of the Berkshires home with you, or to someone you love.

There is also a terrific outlet village near here, so if you realize after browsing through dozens of smaller stores that you’d rather shop for bargains, you’ll find them here too.

We’ll be sure to feed you well before you head out for a day of shopping, and when your feet are sore, come back to the inn, enjoy a glass of wine and a soak in the tub. We offer a Shoppers Special for the shoppers among you, complete with coupons to the aforementioned outlet stores.

Room rates have dropped to off-season pricing, and several attractive packages are now available. Our weekends open up a little bit, making it easier to book the room that you want when you want it.

Three Night $50 Special Package

A Special 3 night package is available both mid-week and weekend. Stay 3 nights at our Berkshires inn and you’ll pay for only two nights in full – the third night in the same room of equal or lesser cost will be only $50!!! If you can’t take the time for the third night, use it to check out late and use the room for the day and leave late.

This special package must be mentioned when you first book your room. It requires full payment up front and is non refundable. Payment must be cash, credit card, check or Applegate Gift Certificates only. Not valid on Holiday weekends.

It’s true. You (we) seniors deserve a little recognition from time to time. We’ve worked hard at our careers and raising our children, and many of us are still hard at work volunteering our time or caring for grandchildren. Goodness knows, from time to time we need to just get away from it all and relax. So be it.

Anyone would benefit from a refreshing walk through the Berkshires; we have a nature trail on our grounds, and there are many good trails just a short distance from our Lee MA bed and breakfast. Ask us about some of our favorite hikes. Then plan to spend the following day enjoying a massage or facial at one of several nearby spas, such as Soul Spa. In short, give yourself a treat.

Bring your golf clubs the next time you stay at our Berkshires inn.

There are lots of ways to enjoy autumn in New England, from walks in the woods to scenic drives. For golfers, this is perhaps the best time of year to throw your clubs in the car and visit golf courses throughout New England. Crisp autumn weather is perfect for golfing: not too hot, not too cold. And nothing is quite so enjoyable as a drink in front of the fire on a cool autumn evening after you have spent the day out in the fresh air, walking from hole to hole.

We are lucky to be in such close proximity to fantastic golf. Indeed, Greenock Country Club is just across the street from our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast, and Egremont Country Club and Pontusooc Golf Club are quite close as well.
