Ski Butternut is a ski area located in Great Barrington, less than thirty minutes from our Lee MA Bed and Breakfast. Though spring is just around the corner, there should be snow for some time to come. In other words, plan a ski vacation in the Berkshires.

Our Sleep Inn – Ski Out special includes two free lift passes for one day at Ski Butternut, Mondays – Fridays.

Ski Butternut features 22 downhill ski trails and a seven lane tubing center. The vertical drop is 1,000 feet, which is quite respectable. 60% of the trails are intermediate, and the other 40% is equally divided between easy and difficult.

We can comfortably accommodate 24 people (and even a few more) in our luxury bed and breakfast Berkshires. The main house features eight guest rooms, and the Carriage House features two king suites and one two-bedroom suite. Everyone has their own room (and bathroom). Everyone feels like royalty. All suites are furnished with antiques, most have a refrigerator and coffee-maker and some have a wet-bar; most of our suites have fireplaces (gas, electric, or wood), and all have a tub.

Don’t try to squeeze brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandchildren and cousins into your house the next time you want to unite your extended family. Host your reunion at our inn instead, where there is room for everyone to stretch out and have privacy. In the evenings, enjoy wine and cheese in the parlor, and remember the best part – we cook breakfast for you.

The Berkshire Botanical Garden is among the oldest of its kind. Established in 1934, it features wooded walking trails, a traditional herb garden, and a lovely rose garden on its fifteen acres. Take a break from looking at the artisans and vendors and stroll through the grounds. Light refreshments will be available at the show, to enjoy as you explore.

Norman Rockwell called Stockbridge “the best of New England”, and it is indeed a picturesque town. After visiting the Arts and Crafts Show, take some time to explore Stockbridge itself. We’d be happy to recommend restaurants that guests of our bed and breakfast Berkshires have enjoyed in the past.

Take advantage of our Appalachian Trail Hiker’s Special the next time you stay at our Lenox Bed and Breakfast. We’ll share what we know about the trail, and help you get there. In order to hike the Appalachian Trail, one must either retrace steps, or arrange for transportation. We will drive out with you so you may leave your car at a trailhead, then we’ll drop you at another trailhead further up (or down) the trail. This way you can experience the trail without having to walk it twice.

Perhaps the best part of our home stretch of the Appalachian Trail is that it passes close to so many interesting towns, like Lenox, Lee, and Norman Rockwell’s Stockbridge. It is easy to incorporate a hike into a vacation filled with art galleries, music, and history. You can work up a hearty appetite, and satisfy it at any number of excellent restaurants.

So hike along a high, dry ridgewalk, enjoying views of Vermont, New York, Connecticut and the vast swath of Massachusetts Berkshires. Descend into valleys filled with wildflowers (we’ve counted more than fifty varieties while hiking in May). Or summit Mount Greylock. The Appalachian Trail traverses some of the most beautiful parts of western Massachusetts, and it is just waiting for you.

There are lots of ways to enjoy autumn in New England, from walks in the woods to scenic drives. For golfers, this is perhaps the best time of year to throw your clubs in the car and visit golf courses throughout New England. Crisp autumn weather is perfect for golfing: not too hot, not too cold. And nothing is quite so enjoyable as a drink in front of the fire on a cool autumn evening after you have spent the day out in the fresh air, walking from hole to hole.

We are lucky to be in such close proximity to fantastic golf. Indeed, Greenock Country Club is just across the street from our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast, and Egremont Country Club and Pontusooc Golf Club are quite close as well.
